So far Brilinta had a lackluster launch too.

Indeed; from a business standpoint, the “next” Plavix that so many companies searched for does not exist, evidently.

2Q12 Brilinta sales were a pathetic $18M.

1Q13 Brilinta sales: $51M, +34% from 4Q12, but still a long way from being the centerpiece of AZN’s portfolio that CEO, Pascal Soriot asserts it will be.

AZN’s Brilinta fails again—sales forecast cut:

AstraZeneca's heart drug Brilinta has failed to help patients with serious circulatory problems in their legs, prompting the company to scrap a $3.5 billion-a-year sales target for the medicine by 2023.

AstraZeneca said on Tuesday Brilinta did not show a benefit over older blood thinner clopidogrel [Plavix] in treating peripheral artery disease (PAD) in a large-scale clinical trial.

… Full results from the so-called EUCLID trial in PAD, which involved 13,885 patients, are expected at the American Heart Association annual meeting in New Orleans in November.

Brilinta had global sales of only $600M in 2015.
