As to the 3.0 GHz frequency, I wonder whether this is a maximum instantaneous attainable frequency that may be throttled by heat sensors when necessary. This seems to be the way Intel is going with their throttling technology.

Mind you, AMD may be heading that way as well.

The only unknown is how good the AMD64 implementation is compared to the original because Prescott's was up and down in performance in that respect. AMD told Anand there will be no new cpu architecture in 2006 so 65nm K8s look like the immediate opposition.
