my ideas are not specific, the school system is.
my ideas are that US schools should have similar math standards as those in Albania or Singapore, not a particularly devilish concept.
My ideas are to teach vocabulary using textbook sources used in 50% of the rest of the country
My other far blown radical idea is to have book reports that are actually book reports. Like:

it was about this
I liked it because
the last "book report" my children had involved cutting out topics and pasting them on recipe cards as if the book was a big happy recipe, and then spend two hours making a pretty cover for it. reading time about 10 hours, writing report 20 minutes, pasting together report 10 hours.
The school told me it was so that even if the children could not read well, they would feel happy and empowered and accomplished becasue they had made a nice and pretty report
