Buying and storing gas is not hedging,SYNM. Hedging would be to take an option to buy at today's price (low) to supply a sale requiring December delivery (high).

But NDR cannot do that, because they have no forward delivery contracts.

Paying for the gas now, and paying to store it for 6 months, is ludicrous. The financiers wont pay for that.
