There are TWO very basic and fundamental philosophical questions surrounding "ownership" and property rights;

1.) To what degree does individual property rights and "ownership" guarantee and protect freedom?

and,

2.) To what DEGREE is individual freedom possible WITHOUT personal property rights and "ownership"?

I believe you've muddled a couple of areas.....

you ask:

Can you alter it at will, house whoever and how many you wish, dispose of it as you will, fail to pay the annual rent (taxes) for your ground, burn it down? Now people are being challenged even when putting gardens in their front yards. The slope is getting slipperier.

implicit within the exercise of your rights is the obligation to conduct yourself in a manner which does not infringe or encroach upon the rights of another....

sooooo....

when you ask:

Can you alter it at will, house whoever and how many you wish, dispose of it as you will,

ans: yeah....pretty much.....it has to meet safety/building codes (but those regs are in place to protect the owner, his family and anyone who may purchase the house in the future)....

additionally, I can't raze my house and build a sky scraper in it's place......

BUT....

why would you equate rules which insure a certain amount of societal orderliness with a loss of rights?

as far as the tax you call rent.....that levy is for community services and usually (foolishly) we use a portion of those monies for schools and education.....

as far as the gardens in the front yard.....that depends upon the community.....just like the recnt furor over flying the American flag in a community which has rules against flying a flag....

when we get to the point where police or some politician can walk into your house at will.....WELL, THEN, YOU'LL HAVE A POINT....

but, i don't even see that on the horizon....

and, how does this relate to the Fed....
