NBRI-I wrote Mr Leopold a note and here is his reply..>>>>>>>>>>>Hey Bruce. Thanks for the email.
The last operator, Brush Creek Mining, planned on drilling the Wolf Vein. The Wolf is a quartz vein on the Ruby property known to contain high-grade gold, but they ran out of money when the price of gold crashed in the 90's, and they were unable to continue.
Where drilling is concerned, the important thing to understand is the difference between a placer deposit and a lode deposit. A placer deposit follows the course of a river or creek, or in our case, an ancient river buried in lava when the Sierra-Nevada mountains were formed. It is therefore essentially horizontal. A lode deposit extends down into the earth, and is therefore essentially vertical, depending on the angle of the dip.
The Ruby channels are buried placer deposits, and thus extend horizontally into the mountain. Drilling the underground channels from the surface is a complete waste of time and money. The only way to drill them is to actually start mining the channels and following the ancient riverbed. Fortunately there is a well-established record of production not only at the Ruby but also from the surrounding district. These tertiary channels have produced an average of 100,000 ounces of gold for every mile of channel mined for the past 150 years. We have approximately 5 miles of channel remaining to be mined at the Ruby, perhaps more if our seismic survey later this year reveals additional buried channels that were previously undetected. We are quite comfortable with the premise that the Ruby channels will produce the same if not more than the historical average in the district from similar deposits.
The Wolf Vein, on the other hand, is a quartz lode deposit that extends vertically into the earth. That is precisely why you drill -- to not only assess the grade and continuity, but to see how deep it extends. If it is too shallow, it's not worth the effort to mine. The Wolf Vein is said to be similar to the nearby 16-to-1 vein, which runs very deep into the earth. That is likely why Brush Creek wanted to drill it, as it has the potential to vastly expand the number of ounces of gold the Ruby is capable of producing. We will get to it when the time comes, but not until we begin mining the existing channels that are already mapped out and ready to be mined now. Drilling is expensive, and our plan is to allocate a portion of the revenue from mining towards further development of the resource, which includes drilling the Wolf Vein.
We have a PROVEN MINE with additional channels yet to explore<<<<NBRI..Mr Leopold hired an expert to handle things at the Ruby..Wont be long now! Mining experts posting on message boards? Nope lol
