bit confused .. i thought you meant as his God's right hand tempter/tester being .. is that what you meant? .. this one looks, maybe, to question that ..
Satan (Hebrew: [...] ha-Satan), "the opposer", is the title of various entities, both human and divine, who challenge the faith of humans in the Hebrew Bible. In Christianity the title became a personal name, and "Satan" changed from an accuser appointed by God to test men's faithto the chief of the rebellious fallen angels ("the devil" in Christianity, "Shaitan" in Arabic, the term used by Arab Christians and Muslims). In Islam, a shay?an is any evil creature, whether human, animal or spirit. With the definite article, the Shay?an is Iblis, the Devil. .. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satan
'Satan is on his God's side' .. oh, maybe you mean 'on his God's side' be cause God created him for contrast .. to create opportunity of 'free choice' ..
Why Did God Create Satan?
Q. Your site is truly a blessing to me, and God bless you. My question is that since God knows everything how come the Devil was his favorite angel since he knew that he was going to become evil and God was going to hate him later? in other words Why was the Devil his favorite angel when God knew who he was all long?
A. This is a good question, and I’ve never seen a good answer to it. So here’s my two cents worth. Since God knew every detail before any one of them came to be, they must all be part of His grand plan. Nothing has been a surprise to him, nothing has caused Him to re-think or adapt. So everything had to be there for some purpose.
And what was the purpose? To reveal His character. To show that He’s absolutely righteous, absolutely just and absolutely loving all at the same time.
For example, He created a set of laws that were perfectly righteous, but that no one could keep. Even though the penalty for violation was death, He allowed no exceptions and no exemptions. Everyone had to be punished because everyone was guilty. Then He became a man and bore the penalty for all mankind, dying in our place. Finally, He let everyone choose for themselves whether to accept His remedy or not. Perfect righteousness, perfect love, perfect justice.
To accomplish all this, He also had to have a worthy adversary. Without both good and evil, we wouldn’t have freedom of choice, and He couldn’t have expressed His love. So He created the one we call Satan, a being with the talent and potential for incredible good, and the power to choose to use that potential to manifest absolute evil. The Bible calls him the model of perfection, full of wisdom and beauty (Ezekiel 28:12)and that’s probably why he had such privilege, but he chose to become God’s adversary. He’s the source of evil in the world, against which God’s goodness is contrasted.
However, there’s one area where I’ll have to correct you. Even though God has to punish Satan to satisfy His righteousness, He does not hate Satan, because God is Love. He loves all of his creation, even those who’ve sworn to oppose Him.
