>>as a quiz, do you know the value of that equally important number 'e'<<

Why, of course… 2.718281828459045235 :-)

I was always fascinated by the way e seems to be a repeating decimal if you look at only the first nine digits to the right of the decimal point. Of course, it would make no sense, mathematically, for e to be a repeating decimal, but that’s another matter.

I saw the Pi reference re GOOG’s share offering in one of the newswire stories today (can’t remember which one). Regards, Dew

GOOG I missed the reference entirely, because the reuters story I read said that GOOG offered 14.8 million shares. (And a round off of 14,159,265 = 14.8 million how?)

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Google Inc. (NasdaqNM:GOOG - News) on Thursday said it would sell up to 14.8 million of its shares, reaping the benefits of a stock price that has tripled in the last year and makes the sale worth about $4 billion.<<

OT One story I heard was that the ratio between the base and height of the pyramids in Egypt is pi, but that was because their standard unit was the "cubit", and they used a cylinder with the diameter of a cubit rolled out to determine the width of the blocks, hence the ratio of pi between the two.
