I was about to say that to ZEEV. Just a few days ago on another site, we talked about a BLUE JET theory. Lightning going UP not down.

Being a digital camera, it could just be the CCD got "overloaded" by a bright spot. Without seeing the picture and knowing how the camera handles that it's hard to say. Couldn't tell from the description in the article. In my cheap digital camera, I just get a purplish white vertical line.
