fuagf, and Stephanie -- the Articles of Confederation were a Tenther's wet dream -- and left an enfeebled ghost of a national government hardly able to wipe its azz, let alone hold together, let alone run, a nation -- the Articles of Confederation were a miserable failure, weren't workable and didn't work, and if they hadn't been replaced by the Constitution when they were this nation would have fragmented and fallen apart, and virtually certainly would have at least started, piece by piece, state by state, to come back under the control of outside powers, by the time of the War of 1812
the only sovereign under the Constitution is the nation itself -- the states themselves are not sovereign
