Why? Zimmerman's attorney knows his client, a wanna-be cop carrying a gun, needs positive PR and since the dead 17yr old victim can't talk his side of the story may never be known - blaming the dead victim is an atty's tactic as old as dirt.
One thing Zimmerman's att'y cannot ignore is tapes of cell phone calls, including one of Zimmerman referring to the dead kid as a "fuck'n coon" before following and shooting him AFTER Zimmerman was told by the PD not to follow the kid.
What's really strange is how the local PD handled this killing from the get-go - the shooter was never tested for drugs, but the victim was...the shooter was allowed to go home after the shooting and never detained for questioning...the shooter did not have his clothes (evidence) tested for gun residude...the victim's cell phone was never used to contact family or friends to determine who he was and was instead labeled "John Doe" for several hours before his family learned his fate.
Either this local PD is incredibly incompetent, or simply biased.
