Are you including the infectious disease area, in particular, HCV?



No, I'm only talking about areas where there is now (or is about to be) a reasonably good generic on the market. So basically all the primary care blockbusters from the last few decades - statins, antihypertensives of various types, antihistamines, acid blockers, SSRIs, etc.

Obviously in areas where there is still significant unmet need (like HCV or Alzheimer's) there is plenty of room for new drugs. Having Aricept or memantine generic isn't going to stop research on AD.
