isn't the PhoneGuard app provided FREE to all households, student, or otherwise currently?
The app is totally free to anyone that wishes to download it. The question that is important here is how many people are willing to PAY FOR IT and actively use it on their phone after the 2 week trial period.....

PhoneGuard, which provides safety products which restricts texting while driving administered by the individual has agreed to provide all student households in the United States with free basic access to the technology. PhoneGuard was requested by the student leadership after researching all the safety products available.

you know Chugit, I had not digested that piece of info - free to ALL students in the US....Hhmmmm

so, if
1. millions of kids see the concert and PSA via PPV and Channel 1 News,
2. get caught up in the moment - quite a few might install app.

Kinda like being at a revival or watching a telethon when you get carried away and get on board, but later go back to cheating on spouse or don't mail the check ....but, it will be too late in this case. Parents are actual targets because they pay the phone bill thus controlling apps and use while child is still on their "payroll".

3. a good chance many that are downloaded for free will be later upgraded to the pay version...

Hopefully they will get "millions" to watch and even a small % of that to download free will be great start and even smaller % of buyers but just in case; OPMG better have servers ready because people install free apps all the time and if dont like, just delete later (i know I have)so Im thinking they will get quite a few hits from this. See how it translates to actual subscriptions at end of 4th quarter 2012 for revenues.

On the Cause side: it will be a great start in getting notice of a serious problem out to many kids - DWD has to become taboo like DUI and that will take a while with all the drivers already on the road. the tide will start to turn with the 14 and under population that hasn't started driving yet with goal to not let them get into habit of DWD so it won't be a issue for them, IMO.
