The range of medications being considered includes drugs to treat diabetes, migraines, high blood pressure and high cholesterol.
I guess I could see an OTC statin. Triptans for migraines are OTC in some European countries - it's a double-edged sword as too-frequent triptan use engenders so-called medication overuse migraines (2-3 times a week is thought to be problematic). Not sure what blood pressure meds might be made OTC. Beta-blockers and calcium-channel blockers are safe enough I suppose, but diuretics might not be in all cases (potential hypokalemia, long-term hyperglycemia for the thiazides).
My libertarian side says why not; my cautious side says maybe not.
