What I was trying to say is that if there are no other offers out there, the one expressed as the bid would be mine and not an inside bid. Therefore when only a handfull of people are buying stock throughout the course of a day (and MMs are not) my lowball offer (.25 for example) will be intermittently be the Bid as the other offers (.85, .8, ect) are filled. that is what I was trying to say. contrarally, I can't manipulate the ask on a stock, even with very low volume. Unless of course there was no one else selling. So I can try to sell at 1000 per share all that I want and the ask will never reflect this.
