Misrepresentations to the court are serious. As ex suggests conduct before the court is one factor in determining the multiplier to be used to actual damages.

Depending on the source and the role of the attorney in the misrepresentation, sanctions against the client, witness or the offering attorney are all possible including referring the matter to the disciplinary authority.
