I still think it's the dead guy's family. The timing is right for them to be dividing the estate between themselves and they would want to liquidate all stock so they can divide the money between the heirs.
No way they would keep the stock jointly, assuming it's more than just one heir...or maybe if it's just his surviving wife or whoever, they want the money to spend or invest in something bigger than a penny stock.
Whoever it is, they're raining on our parade, but it can't last forever.
