Hey tapster - if it is any consolation....I have GREAT HOPE FOR YOU!!!! The first thing that stands out in your post is "Sometimes I just feel so dang dumb." - I ALWAYS feel this way!!!!! There is ALWAYS soooo much more to learn!!! Only by recognizing this and recognizing our faults (so we can correct and avoid them) and recognizing our strength (so we can focus our efforts there and capitalize on 'em) will we ever be able to become the traders/investors that we are capable of!!!
Honest self-evaluation is a freakin' huge part of the puzzle!!!!
It is up to each one of us to honestly recognize where we are, where we want to go, and adopt a plan that suit us as individuals to get to that promised land!!! A HUGE key to success IMO!!!!
