East Africa is risky, but the USGS indicates it is one of the last big land oil plays in the world and AOIFF who is worth 2% of the value of Apache has leased 32,000 sq miles of the 126,000 square miles estimated to contain as much as 71 billion barrels of reserves in East Africa. They have some very diverse geographic holdings. We obviously need to use a cautious approach investing here, but how much more dangerous is this than the Middle East in the next few months/years?
