#139 RE: bartermania #138

OT: barter, I think you would enjoy, if you like to read, Tuxedo Park by Jennet Conant, Publisher, 2002, Simon & Schuster.
Subtitle: A Wall Street Tycoon and the Secret Palace of Science that changed the course of World War II.

Well, some of you may find it interesting about the invention of radar and other scientific developments. I found it a great read about how Alfred Lee Loomis created a closed scientific community at Tuxedo Park. A slightly obscure character, but a vital link to the saving of democracy during WWII.

Air doesn't stop lightning from striking...
Bart, Now you wish to *introduce* lightning into the discussion???
Why do you seem so sure that *Air* not the water vapor contained within the *Air* tends to carry the electrical discharge of lightning?
Might the Voltage potential of Lightning be juuust a little bit higher than the Voltage in transmission towers or *Nominal* 120/240 Volt household Voltage?
Lightning had no part in MY previous discussion. FWIW, in my world, Lightning will do whatever it needs to do to achieve its Voltage Equilibrium. I’d probably dislike the explanation of lightning in your world.

I was thinking about how Einstien became fascinated with Physics...because of a compass! These magnetic field lines point the compass's needle toward the N. magnetic pole of our planet. I would think that this extra energy (electricity) that REMAT develops has a lot to do with magnetic field lines...and energy of this sort. It seems to me that this is where our current generators are gathering their "free" electrons from anyway now. Folks seem to think they know it all. I admit I don't know it all...but, problems along these lines have fascinated me for many years.

Linking Einstein, Physics, a compass, Earth’s magnetic field, and REMAT is a nice touch! But then you proclaim some ignorance: Folks seem to think they know it all. I admit I don't know it all...but, problems along these lines have fascinated me for many years.

Education would seem to be the answer.
Somehow, I don’t think that will be forthcoming…
