Silly, all phones, including the Startac had a texting feature. Its a dumb phone feature. As apps grow in popularity, texting will slow down. Its evolution. With a one button touch of the phone, kids can tell their friends where they are and who they are with. I know it is hard to understand this, as there is no proof since all you see are kids looking down on their phones. This argument has repeated in history with Fredrick Smith, who got a C on his term paper because his professor said he could not logistically compete with the US Postal Service. That man created FedEx. 20 years ago if I told you that the mail man would have to cut delivery down to 5 days a week we would all say " no way. I get 20 pieces of mail a day. It will never stop." But with the advent of Email and cell phones, it did just that. Texting is primitive as it gets. Its a technology that is inconvenient and will be replaced by talk to text or something quicker and more user friendly. And this will happen within the next two years, IMHO. It doesnt have to be a drastic change like VHS to DVD, it can be similar to DVD to Blu Ray. People want to be the first of their friends to adapt new technology, not block it. Limiting access to something is an adult thing. Kids adapt to change and they adapt at a viral speed. Justin Bieber will get the message of "dont text and drive" before OPMG gets the message of "download and buy our app".
