Excerpt from PKI shareholder letter accompanying annual report:

“[In 2011] we made remarkable progress in several high-growth areas… we significantly enhanced our imaging, sample-prep, and molecular-analysis capabilities with the acquisitions of Caliper Life Sciences [#msg-66915400], Champagne, and Drexel. We also considerably advanced our capabilities in the vital area of informatics, which is becoming an increasingly critical need across multiple disciplines in research and development organizations…

Other than a one-page letter from the CEO, the entire annual report consisted of only the 10-K SEC filing. I like that kind of frugality in the companies I own!

Another tidbit from the shareholder letter: in 20111, PKI analyzed more than two billion (!) environmental samples.
