I'm pretty sure that, when Lumb was taking "scammers 101," they made it very clear that one of the important things was never to admit that anything was a scam. It really affects the next scam negatively.
After all, if he had admitted that Hanover Capital Group was a scam, where would he have been with his American shell game?
