Why should you pay any more than anyone else, forget the rate thing. We should all pay the same amount, not the same rate.


That doesn't make any sense to me. If a person makes $15,000 from a minimum wage job, just how much money do you think you could get from them, while leaving enough for expenses?

Is $1000 a good starting point? Out of nearly 130 million employed Americans, that would yield revenues of $130 billion.

Last year's government budget was $3.7 trillion.

Ok, let's assume we shrink government in half, first, which leaves us with a budget of $1.9 trillion (which would be only 10% of GDP, unseen since the 1930s, and probably require we kill Medicare and/or Social Security). Then all we have to do is tax the minimum wage earner $14,600, thereby leaving him with $400 per year left to live on.

Meanwhile, people making a million per year can instead take home $985,400.

Elmer, seriously... is that your proposal?
