Plasma sprays and thin film deposits require very expensive equipment. SSOL is using the equipment at San Diego University to get the bugs out of their process. Very cost efficient to do it this way.
Once they do, it will be like the chip makers in the silicon valley area. Expensive at first, over time the price for computers keep coming down yet company profits remain high.
Expensive but cost efficient when compared to fossil fuels and the overall grid parity. Over time SSOL will become very cost effective.
