There are no rules on how to draw a trendline. You just try to capture the true trend which includes as many support lines as you can connect (or contain) with one straight line. Spikes outside the line are not important because they were most likely created by market makers going after stops or naive market orders placed in a think market that were filled by the closed order present at the time.
