McCain for all his marital faults was a war hero and a POW. Did you know that his A-4 Skyhawk was shot down by a missile from the USS Forestal? AKA - "friendly fire" by some idiot who didn't know what he was doing! He survived the crash with both arms broken along with a broken leg and other injuries.
Carol McCain, John's first wife. She was a famous beauty and swimwear model in 1965! She had a terrible auto accident and by the time John returned home, she had gained a lot of weight and looked nothing like the woman he left. They were divorced in 1980 but he has continued to support her. Carol had been previously married and was the mother of two children when she married John. Carol has since remarried.
