But it's not the way these royalty streams get valued. (There are apparently some tricks involving leveraged borrowing where tax-free institutions can buy these royalty streams without running afoul of the tax laws, but it is apparently quite hard). If MNTA isn't going to be profitable for most of these 10 years then I'd look elsewhere for an investment.

I think that's pretty unlikely myself - more likely they impose a royalty payment aside from any damages.
