The price of a stock is NEVER driven by the news it is driven only by the buying and selling activity that takes places in the course of each day's trading. Traders and investors may base their trading decisions upon their perception of the news but, the overwhelming majority of traders and investors discount the news (aside from earnings reports) because they are aware that the true value of a stock is seen in terms of a combination of book value and earnings per share.
