You understand that liberals make the exact same claim about conservatives? I don't belong in either camp right now so I'm not offended but which mentality better lends itself to shallowness and lack of independent thought? One who opposes change or one who is tolerant of others and is open to new ideas?

Conservative:

1. Favoring traditional views and values; tending to oppose change.

2. Traditional or restrained in style.

3. Moderate; cautious: a conservative estimate.

4. Tending to conserve; preservative

Liberal:

1. Not limited to or by established, traditional, orthodox, or authoritarian attitudes, views, or dogmas; free from bigotry.

2. Favoring proposals for reform, open to new ideas for progress, and tolerant of the ideas and behavior of others; broad-minded.

3. Not strict or literal; loose or approximate.
