alan, My 3.8Ghz <100W prediction does require about 55% power reduction, but that seems very doable based on what I have read.

Didn´t INTEL have quite the superlatives ready for their 65nm process? Especially in terms of leakage reduction?

I put stock into what Intel is telling folks, and their evasiveness when asked about 65nm server TDPs on the CC ("They will fit into the Paxville envelope" (previously defined on call as being even higher than the current TDP) -- Yikes!)

mid next year on 65nm? That seems possible. I was refering to the timeframe of the Dempsey launch, which should be Q106. DC Opteron 95W should be at least 2.4GHz then, 2.6GHz would be pushing it, but perhaps.
