I think it's very difficult to research technical analysis without having first hand experience. There are some absolutes, but a lot of it is pattern recognition within a trend and how to apply the rules of T/A.

For example, I have a theory that H&S formations break in the direction of the prevailing trend. If it is a bullish trend, inverse H&S formations should rule and normal H&S formations should fail most of the time. It's vice-versa in bearish trends.

Furthermore, I have not seen any research utilizing volume tests of support and resistance, which is very key in determining whether the trend continues or stalls.

Much of the research also uses a single time frame when most of us practiciing T/A use multiple time frames. That alone is enough to skew research.

Anyway, it would be nice if a trader with some T/A experience did some research for once <G>
