#3353 RE: ergo sum #3348

"If you are going to try and tell me that WAR is a true tenant of your brand than I am going suggest that you will have the blood of millions of people to atone for. I see Paul as an apologist for the state and in that sense I see him as anti-Semitic, pro Roman. That is why I see his words as a contradiction to Jesus."

Ergo Sum...

I'm not sure about the meaning of your statement "WAR is a true tenant of your brand." I am certainly not "pro-war" in general, but I do think there are times when war becomes necessary for various reasons. WWII would be a good example, and in my opinion so is ridding the world of Saddam, but that is just my opinion. You aver that I would have the blood of millions of people on my hands, but I would argue that Japan and Germany (in WWII) and Saddam in the present instance are the ones with blood guilt. If by attacking Saddam and his merry band of men with relatively minimal loss of life we could save millions of lives by preventing his use of chemical and biological weapons, sponsoring and paying for terrorism, and acquiring and using nuclear weapons, how would that fit into your equation?

As for Paul, I cannot imagine that you have truly read the New Testament and still make such a bizarre statement. Paul, an anti-semite??? He was not only Jewish himself, he was a pharisee, one of the most strict sects of Judaism. Even after his conversion experience, he remained an observant Jew, and the first place he taught in every city he went was the local synagogue. To somehow claim that he was an antisemitic is without foundation or merit. Do you have anything to back up such an assertion?????

Paul was not "pro-Roman" either, although he was by birth a Roman citizen and at a crucial point in his travels he used that fact in his favor. In the end, though, it did him little good for as soon as he reached Rome, he was imprisoned until his death at the hands of the Romans, being crucified upside down. If he was "pro-Roman", as you claim, the Romans themselves did not believe it or they would not have executed him.

If you search the scriptures, you will find no instance in which Paul was at odds with Jesus on anything. Jesus was Paul's Lord and Savior, and even the thought of disagreeing with Jesus would have been an anathema to him.

Please provide some evidence to back up your assertions. I believe you will find there is none.
