There are over 3 billion reasons that they may file BK. The debt of around 1 billion or so. The pension liabilities of around 2.6 billion.
I do agree with you that Kodak has many patents and innovations and possible favorable lawsuits that could totally turn around the company if they can stay afloat during 2012.
A buyout is a possibility. I think that potential buyers want to see how any bankruptcy and the pensions, lawsuits and copyright laws play out before possibly buying out kodak.
