John,

You are looking at this as you do everything in life -- how it benefits you.

I'm looking at this from the benefit of iHub. I've found that I can weed out spammers, idiots, "...whizzabangs..." as you call them if they are limited to 3 posts. They make the first post and it's a RB-standard post, they are gone. No questions asked. If they make a decent, iHub post, I bump up the account.

Lately, because of the volume on my screen, I've had to forgoe some of my normal account qualifications before approval. Not so anymore. The site is growing and growing well. I want to keep the quality high and noise low.

There's a way to do that -- go back to the way I was doing it. I only see accounts that need approval after at least one post is made, which greatly reduces the number of accounts to go through, but in no way inhibits their features as a free user. I can evaulate their account information, other things, and their post quality at that point.

It does nothing but improve the long-term quality of community.

Further, this new process was incorporated today. It's not like I'm applying it just to your referrals. It applies to all new accounts...So I don't know why you are kicking up a fuss.

If you are truly interested in iHub and the quality folks that make up it, then you shouldn't have any problems with this.

I'm here for the long-term, not to win a contest.

MB

P.S. While we are being honest with eachother, I terminated a significant number of your account referrals because a ton of them were aliases for either you (or your grandkids) or your buddy Lord Ernie; or they signed up with a free e-mail account (or an acccount with a site owned by LE); or they used false registration data. My quality control works, eh?

First & Second place seem to be a foregone conclusion, excepting some massive SPAM BLASTER effort threatened by one of the "..terminal denizons.." of the JAILHOUSE.........!!

Says the guy whose referrals are orders of magnitude more numerous than his nearest competitor, but who referrals nearly unaminously never post, leading one to believe these referrals may likely be the result of a massive spam blaster effort?

All of a suddent there's a "...NEW RULE..." thrown into the hopper. People supposedly have to "..post.." to get certified so the the "...referring iHubians..." get their proper points added.

It's not a new MDC rule. It's a new administrative policy, and how did you know about it? It's new guidelines Matt uses for approving new accounts. Really just a tightening of the standards. Along the lines of "Why bother approving accounts of people who never post?" If the only functional difference between the two levels is the number of posts permitted per day, what difference does it make to people who post 0 times in 3 months?
