jbennet, I think you went a little too far. the UN is filled with people who hate. I think from all my vistas around the world , the US is one of the few countries which actively promotes non hatred. Many countires actively promote it in small ways and large.

The UN does hate, and there is hatred in the council and the general assembly. The hatred in the world comes bubbling up from all around. I know you can point to bad things the US has done, but they should not be used for hatred, if your original premise is true. And many other countries do the same things, but are not the subject of world wide hatred.

I do not know what the UN is, but i do not see it except as a mechanism for increasing political strife. It talks a lot about the US for example, but does nothing in Africa.

I have read some of jean kirkpatrick 's books and find them astonishing

jbennett...

Quite a visceral reaction to my posts.

First, as I said, only God decides who is condemned, not I. I only stated what the New Testament teaches, and it is up to each individual to accept or reject it. Each person will have to answer to God, not me, for their decision.

As for the UN, I am entitled to my opinion also - why does that bother you??? I did not disparage anyone who held an opposing belief on the subject - you are the one doing that.

Whenever we speak of angst in the world, the one common theme seems to be lack of leadership, ie moral/ethical leadership, and gifted diplomacy. Within the scope of global diversity, there has to be some common ground, or standard regarding what is "moral" or ethical. The UN would certainly seem to lack such leadership right now. And it is interesting that "jihad" is declared when such positive leadership is absent.... It would seem that the world has alot of "thinking" to do if a meltdown is to be avoided. And maybe a meltdown is unavoidable, but I suspect Bush is leading us down a bad path...
