#3145 RE: goodluck #3144

I am certainly no Bible Christian, yet I support the war if Saddam will not do as the U.N. has required him to do and he has agreed to do. If he is not stopped now there is no telling what could happen. There are many urging Saddam in a nonviolent way and I hope it works... All this war rhetoric is about trying to resolve it peacefully, that is what some seem to misunderstand. The only blowback likely is if this problem is not dealt with now, peacefully if possible, violently if not... The President has the support and has stated numerous times that he prefers to resolve this without war! I am just glad we did not have Al Gore at the helm here...

Today it was reported that Hussein is denying the inspectors access to some scientists. What do you think we should do about that? Speak sternly to him?

I completely agree with you, see the third paragraph of #msg-464455 from mid August or #msg-528581 from October.

would it be ok if iraq sent missiles into israel again? after all they are still at war, iraq refusing to sign a peace agreement in 1948 after its invasion of both Palestine and Israel?

Would it be ok if Israel sent missiles and fighters into Iraq, because after all Iraq is still at war with Israel and Iraq is making weapons ponted at Israel and is being told that it will use these weapons against Israel?

All these questions belie the reality:

do you think Saddam will use bioweapons or nuclear weapons against the United States, or provide them to people who will use them for him?

If the answer is yes, you protect your butt.

If the answer is no, you try negotiations a la Kofi A.

it has nothing to do with blowback. If there is blowback against you because you are doing the right thing then something is wrong. If you get "blowback" because you were not supposed to fight back, then this is nuts too.

If you get blowback because he really is a kind man and will never use any weapons or has nver developed any weapons and never sent them to syria and is only developing bioweapons defensively because Saudi Arabia has been trying to invade or the Kurds are trying to revolt, and you invade for no reason, then you should get more than blowback.

Problem is Saddam is not known for anything much good other than big posters.
