Actually, whoever would be in office would need to run a deficit. The only difference is where the money is going. This president is buying a lot of security and military hardware (and fuel and food for the soldiers). That's probably just as good for the economy as any other spending.
Heck, if they count bombs that get shipped out but don't come back as exports, it might even help our balance of payments <G>.
