The compact uses words such as “common rules”, “monitoring”, “coordination”, “assessment”, “endorsement”, “sanctions”. These are all pretty strong words. I wonder how long national electorates will tolerate supervision and direction of their economies by officials and bodies which are unaccountable to them.
