I'd hate to confuse republicans and democrats in this debate because both sides have liberals and conservatives. However that widening gap you talk about is not the widening gap between races but between the poorest and the more affluent among us. It's just that minorities have had to start the race form much farther back and to some they don't care as long as they were in the front.
So what programs would you get rid of:
Social Security - most expensive? Medicare - rising rapidly with ageing population Medicaid - for poor children for medical coverage Unemployment compensation - ? Welfare - 50% reduction since 1995
