I did throw my leg over their 168-horse crotch rocket and have to admit I nearly left with it. Perhaps later. This one, especially while still making payments on the Wing, is stretching the budget a bit.
Crotch rockets or at least "standards" (not many of those around anymore) are definitely more my personal style and would better match my typical riding patterns. But with bikes, like trucks, I tend to end up getting the flagship.
BMW also has a boxer-powered sport-tourer that I found pretty interesting but dismissed it because it didn't have a stereo.
What's funny about that is that I don't typically listen to the stereo when on a bike or in a car. My listening did increase when I got my iPod, and went way up with the XMSR system in my truck (always channel 150).
I've yet to ride a touring bike like a touring bike. The 5-mile commute to the office and the occasional (okay, pretty frequent) late-night rides, few of which involve highways or distances greater than 50 miles round trip.
The closest I came was the last ride I took on the Wing before taking it to the shop. Called my wife and told her I was about 100 miles from the house, the bike really rocked having finally gotten it into its element, and I'd be back after grabbing a bite to eat at an iHop.
Right now I know I'll ride it to the office but haven't decided whether it's going to the track in Topeka with me. Leaving today and still haven't even decided whether to haul both cars, haul both cars and the bike, or just drive the Subaru. Or, since this is a Porsche club race weekend, I'll get plenty of track time tomorrow and a little bit Saturday morning, so I'm considering two options I haven't used before. Drive the Subaru up there tomorrow morning and back home Saturday night, or haul both up there for the same timeframe and spend tomorrow night in the trailer.
