I'm sure it is just a loose connector.

I rode it again last night and found that the high beam and cruise control are out as well. They're both immediately adjacent to the windshield adjuster.

Also, I found that I do miss the Wing's pendulum method of self-cancelling the turn signals, but appreciate that the turn signals stay on longer on the BMW so you can hit them earlier. On the Wing, I would have to hit them 2 or 3 times to get them to stay on until I'd actually made my turn, though I don't turn them on particularly early.
