#56211 RE: Capt_Nemo #56209

Capt_Nemo: If someone is posting publicly to you pretending to be nice, but in private is using pmails to harass or threaten you, then IMO it is fair game to post those harassing and or threatening pmails and or emails publicly so everyone can see what is being said behind the scenes. Outing the author so to speak.

If the author does not want the pmail made public, then he or she should not use the pmail or emails system to harass or threaten someone.

If the pmail or email is/was a private conversation between two individuals that is later posted publicly to reveal private thoughts, opinions and or personal information to embarrass or do harm to the author of a pmail or email, then it is wrong. IMO, the posting of pmails or emails publicly reflects more negatively on the individual who posted the private communiqué than the author. It serves notice the individual that posted the pmail or email is not to be trusted in private.

I've had several of my pmails posted publicly in an effort to embarrass and damage my alias. While I could have easily reciprocated by posting pmails written to me by the despicable individual who posted publicly pmails I had authored to him, I chose not to do so even though pmails by that individual to me made mine seem tame in comparison.

Instead, I chose to take the hit and not respond in kind so folks that converse with me via pmail or email know that even if I get made at them in the future, I’ll not reveal publicly what they said to me in private, I’ll not violate their trust.

I do not think posting pmails or emails should be something the Terms of Use regulates.
