Mmoy, I too share the same dislike for Microsoft, its control, and its products, but what alternatives do I have? I'm a happy Linux user at work (at least the engineering work, not the Outlook crap), but at home? Maybe if I ever set up my own home Web server like a coworker did, I'll install Linux, but other than that, I'm still living in a Microsoft world.
Contrast that with x86 processors. If I really wanted to, I can go all "Intel Outside" and build an AMD-based PC. Nothing will change, and even my wife will be able to use this machine. Can't say the same about Linux.
Now I'm sure AMD will try and cook up the same negative publicity against Intel that Microsoft cooked up for themselves, but it is my opinion that the public will be much less interested precisely because (a) they have a choice, and (b) most really don't care as long as it runs their software.
