#154589 RE: IH Admin [Shelly] #154582

Going forward, Admin will be adding all Mods spots. Admin and the User can remove.

Actually after giving this Mod policy some thought overnight I find that this statement and the subsequent future application the most important change to be applied.

The stickies/IBOX stuff will work out on it's own over time. Users will find out how much they can push that envelope of different points of view before there are repercussions and adjust. Or Admin will adjust the policy /format some. It will be an ongoing process for a while.

But having Admin approve ALL mods based on IHUB community behavior is paramount because the present system of only catching up with abusive, ineffectual, or trophy mods was in dire need of adjustment since Admin had no real way to monitor how the criteria for becoming a mod was applied until well after the position was filled.

Just to be clear. Any User could remove any User on just opinion of the other user?

Hypothetical situation, which will come up pretty quickly after this system is put in place (IMO):

User A has been a mod of a relatively dead issue so there has been little board activity in months/years. An "awareness campaign" (disclosed or not) rolls in and suddenly there's a flurry of new posts by quite a few people who have never been to that board.

Users B-G, the new posters, claim the old mod is not fulfilling his role so they want them removed and one or more of the new friendlies put in place as mods instead.

Will the original mod be allowed to be kept on and the new users added so that someone is there when the group moves on?

PS: This is not so hypothetical really as I and others have gone through it. I fought to get the mod position back after they all left the board with Mr. No Moderator at the helm.
