#58013 RE: KeithDust2000 #58000

Re: what sources are you (and Joe) talking about in this specific case? Whitefield? Where is the info from?

Apparently, there is a link floating around with an Intel roadmap from HP that shows Whitefield as a 32-bit-only Xeon MP core on 90nm in 2006. First of all, Intel has already stated their roadmap at IDF, and Whitefield is a 2007 product. And that doesn't necessarily suggest a slip either, since Intel's 2006 roadmaps has the dual core Paxville and Tulsa chips scheduled for 2006, and even the most optimistic roadmap wouldn't have 3 cores scheduled in the same segment over one year.

Moreover, by 2007, Intel will be readying 45nm, so a 90nm quad core just sounds silly. Even a quad core Yonah wouldn't make sense, since Yonah is 65nm.

In short, the roadmap is bogus, but people are still talking about it as if it were gospel.
