I can't argue what you see in the charts but i think things are much different now historically from a fundamental viewpoint. We could easily see peak oil soon and we have an up and coming major user of oil now competing for supply - China. I think China, and India to some extent, have the economic growth momentum that they could offset any drop in demand from the western world and continue to put pressure on prices.
