Apple Industries Will Distribute Mobile Star Karaoke Vending Machine In U.S.
03/16/2010

Mobile Star Corp., a developer of coin-operated karaoke vending machines, has reached a preliminary distribution agreement with Apple Industries, a manufacturer and distributor of coin-operated electronic entertainment.

Apple Industries plans to distribute the Mobile Star's next-generation entertainment vending booth, utilizing its established marketing channels. Apple Industries currently operates a vast distribution network, placing products in shopping centers, amusement parks, theaters, casinos, restaurants, pubs, and other tourist attractions.

The preliminary agreement follows the successful pilot of the Mobile Star during the recently concluded Holiday Season. The pilot test confirmed the quality of the vending machine and demonstrated greater return on investment potential than initially anticipated

Each vending machine is expected to generate over $30,000 in gross annual revenues.

"We plan to begin marketing the machine in the second half of 2010, and we reasonably expect to distribute over 1,000 units in the first 12 months," said Allen Weisberg, president of Apple Industries in a prepared statement. "Today there are over 40,000 bars nationwide with jukeboxes. We anticipate placing the Mobile Star in many of these locations in the coming years, in addition to other locations such as nationwide theater chains, etc."

Editor's Insight: Non-traditional vending concepts continue to grow.

The manufacturer of this karaoke vending machine claims the market test results exceeded expectations. The company has now secured a preliminary distribution agreement with a well established amusement machine distributor.

The distributor, for its part, has very aggressive expectations.

Whether or not this concept has staying power remains to be seen.

What can't be denied is that non-traditional vending concepts continue to grow. Yesterday, VendingMarketWatch reported that The Body Shop, a cosmetic franchise, has formed a partnership with Zoom Systems to bring the natural ingredients of its popular body care and bath products to branded ZoomShops at convenient locations around the U.S. 03-16-10 by Elliot Maras
