Hi Bob, The cars we'll be driving are the "spec race" series cars with the 302 CI V8's putting out 275HP. Not bad in a 2250lb car. I think we'll be entertained.

Think of your Mustang after going on a 1000 pound diet! Should be fun.

Edgar's been racing since 1988, I've raced since the end of 1989, Andy's been a car jocky all his life but has only limited track time experience at schools in Sports 2000 spec racers. Pete actually has the most track time of all. He's the SSGT 5.0L Mustang LX driver. He's raced since 1991, but probably did 12 races a year for much of that time. He's been motoring around in a Triumph TR-8 for the last couple of years. It's an ex-IMSA racer with huge wheels and tires, big brakes and plenty of squirt.

Andy and I are the same age and have been friends since we were 5 years old. Pete's about a year or two older and Edgar is about three years older or about 56, I believe. I've known Pete since the summer of 1990 when he attended the same "drive your own car" race school at Road America. When he got fast enough to boil his brake fluid, we helped him out with a fresh bleeding. We've been friends ever since. Edgar and I have known each other since '74 and have attended races and raced together in our Jaguars for a long time.

Sorry our wives aren't attending - they know better!!!

Best regards, Tom

Hey Bob, After re-watching that video clip, I decided it might be prudent for me to remember to bring my ear plugs! In my '53 Jag, the exhaust is just below my elbow on the left side of the car and really rattles my ear drum even through my helmet. My Ear Dr. told me after testing my hearing that I needed to protect myself from the old beast.

The first time I raced with ear plugs in was a bit strange. It was like watching Bullett with the sound turned way down!!! After that I learned to appreciate having the plugs in. Now I even wear them on the lawn mower.

With twin sidepipes on those V-8 cars, I think it might be wise to bring some ear protection.

Do you wear ear plugs when you are on the track?

Best regards, Tom
