Speaking of which, how did he get such a crazy pro-IPF agenda in the first place? He posts as if he were in charge of Intel IPF PR, or worked for an OEM completely dependent on IPF, like SGI. If neither of those, then what?

BTW, what is your take on the quad Opteron (I noticed you commenting on it in your post at RWT).

One theory, which IMO has a low probability or being correct, is for very early in 2006. That would require it to still be Socket 940, fit in the thermal envelope of under 100W, it would need 65nm to be very early, it would also require reworked SRQ to handle more links.

With Socket F for servers being on the horizon (WAG mid 2006 - any better info?), since it is called F, I guess it may support FB-DIMMS. It seems likely that this new socket is design with more cores in mind from the beginning, and it seems likely that quad core will be launched in that socket than in Socket 940.

So my expectation is that i would be very surprised by H1 2006 launch, H2 launch would be a mild pleasant surprise. In H1 2007, it will be a must.
